Adam's formal music education began by learning piano from his mother, Dianne Maalouf. As Adam's musical interest shifted from the piano to instruments such as the cello and percussion, he began to develop the ability to move easily between the instruments. On many occasions in Adam's local youth orchestra, he would perform on both cello and percussion in the same concert. This skill to be able to adapt like a chameleon in different musical settings and always changing instruments would soon develop into Adam's calling card.

In High School, Adam attended The Fine Arts Center for Performing Arts in Greenville, SC, where he received focused training in Jazz, Chamber Music, and Music Theory. At the same time Adam was pursuing Advanced Drum-set with Rick Dior, out of Charlotte, NC. After graduation, Adam was accepted and enrolled in The Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. While attending Eastman, Adam was graced by many powerful teachers including Michael Burritt (Marimba), Rohan Krishnamurthy (Indian Drumming), River Guerguerian (Frame Drums) Bill Cahn (Contemporary Percussion), Murat Tekbilek (Darbukka) and many others. Adam received his bachelors in Percussion in Spring 2013.

Adam's favorite musicians and influences include Ustad Zakir Hussain, Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble, Shakti, Tigran Hamasyan, Jamey Haddad, Misrili Ahmet, Digga Rhythm Band, Nadishana, Free Planet Radio, Bob Moses, Talvin Singh, and Nexus.
