AOHP (Art of Handpan) welcomes you to an afternoon of handpan learning and play in beautiful Black Mountain, North Carolina with expert teacher Adam Maalouf in this one day event.

Participants will learn a hands-on approach to:

technique

rhythms

chord progressions

melodies

musical styles

playing together

listening while playing

This class is geared for both beginner and advanced level.

~ We will provide handpans at no extra charge for those who need one. Please bring your handpan of you own one.

About the teacher:

Adam Maalouf is a Lebanese-American multi-instrumentalist and composer. His cross-genre style of music forms a common thread between the cultures of the East and West. Maalouf’s musical style represents the cross-pollination of diverse influences, including western classical, Jazz, Arabic, and Indian classical and electronica.

Adam holds a BA in Percussion Performance from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY and MBA in Music Business from Berklee School of Music. After school, curiosity drew Adam to India and the Middle East to study under renowned hand-percussion masters Anindo Chatterjee, Rohan Krishnamurthy, River Guerguerian, Glen Velez.

The Sprout House is a music space located in the center of bustling Black Mountain. Enjoy a walk through their organic garden, or grab lunch next door at Bush Farmhouse. Street parking available on Ridgeway or there is a parking lot on Richardson.
